Learn to make the "melt in your mouth" scones for which Sweet Shalom is known. Be prepared for hands-on involvement as you learn the special techniques for creating moist, flaky scones. Experience the satisfaction of learning a nearly forgotten skill. When the scones are ready you'll enjoy the fruits of your labor with a nice cup of tea and a "sit down."

Mountain Dulcimer Workshop by Joe Zsigray 

Joe Zsigray is an Artist-In-Residence and former Executive Director of the Collingwood Arts Center in Toledo, Ohio. He has over 25 years experience in teaching music and lively arts on the elementary, Jr. college, college and continuing education levels. Joe has a passion for preserving the history of the only true American instrument, the mountain dulcimer. He is skilled in teaching the average person (even the musically challenged) to construct this beautiful instrument with inexpensive materials and also to play the mountain dulcimer in less than a day!

We are so exciting about our up coming mountain dulcimer workshop! People who live in the Appalachian Region of the United States have played the mountain dulcimer for decades. Come learn to play this wonderful 3 stringed American Instrument. Participants through 99+ will receive their own mountain dulcimer to take home and will learn to play at least 10 songs on the dulcimer. No prior musical training or experience is necessary. If you have never played an instrument before, this workshop is for you!

Following the workshop we will gather around a buffet of Sweet Shalom's delicious warm scones and tea.

Cost: $75 (includes your dulcimer to take home)

Jewelry Making Workshop with Debbie Ketchum

Jewelry designer and creator Debbie Ketchum is the owner of Ketch Designz. Ketch Designz is one of the finest producers of custom made jewelry in the area, with a reputation for design originality, versatility and impeccable craftsmanship. All of Debbie's stunning jewelry is hand crafted with careful thought and detail resulting in some of the most beautiful and unique pieces found anywhere.  Debbie is a warm and caring person who takes pleasure in giving special attention to each of her clients.

Debbie is also experienced in teaching jewelry design and construction to individuals interested in creating their own jewelry. Even if you are a beginner at making jewelry, Debbie will make you feel comfortable as she shares the techniques of jewelry creation.

Join us at this special workshop and enjoy an afternoon of fun, creativity and friendship. Everyone who attends will make a stunningly elegant bracelet woven with sterling silver and Swarovski crystals. This bracelet is formal enough for a bride and versatile enough to wear with jeans!   After our jewelry making session we will have a lovely buffet of Sweet Shalom's warm scones and tea.

Sweet Shalom Open House

Ring in the holiday shopping season on Friday, November 26th! On this special Friday, we will be serving lunch with no reservations needed. If you are looking for unique gifts, a FREE $20.00 gift certificate will be given to anyone spending $50 in our gift shop during his holiday promotion! For those who start their shopping frenzy in the wee hours of the morn on Black Friday, stop in at Sweet Shalom for rest and refreshment beginning at 10:30 am until 3:00 pm. For those who avoid the crowds and the shopping, come in and enjoy a peaceful lunch and a hot cup of wassail. A cup of FREE Holiday Tea will be available in our gift shop.
