Little Tea House on the Prairie: Tea with Laura Ingalls Wilder
“Life was not intended to be simply a round of work, no matter how interesting or important that work may be. A moment’s pause to watch the glory of a sunrise or a sunset is soul satisfying, while a bird’s song will set the steps to music all day long.”
Laura Ingalls Wilder, 1923
The literary equivalent to comfort food, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic stories of pioneer life during the late 1800’s are a collection of engaging tales of life on the untamed American frontier. Many of the stories revolve around food, and we have planned a historic pioneer menu which includes:
- Scones with Butter and Jam
- Homemade Chicken Pie
- Baked Sweet Potatoes
- Baked Ham Relish on Sour Dough Bread
- Wisconsin Cheese Medley on Whole Grain Bread
- Savory Onion Pie
- Laura’s Little Maple Cakes
- Cinnamon Apple Slump
- Sour Cream Blueberry Bars
